Good Afternoon Fellow Bloggers,
In 2012 Farmland Acreage rose as high as $8,296.00 per acre in Iowa. That was an increase of 23.7% over 2011.
Steve Bruere, president of Peoples Company Real Estate Brokerage based in W. Des Moines, Iowa. He states the land market continues to be bullish. Quote "We've seen really a 50% increase in land values over the past couple of years."
Supplies are tight for Farmland but the big wild card for 2013 will be precipitation. Quote "The weather will dictate what happens to land values next year. We'll have the world's largest crop planted in 2013. If we have timely rains, commodity prices will go south and that will have a negative impact on values. If we have another short crop, then land values could continue their ride up." *
This in contrast to Florida Farmland. This type of property has continued to drop in price in relatively the same time period. Statewide approximately 30%. It is possible that this trend will continue, depending on nature and government interference.
Prayer with God's mercy and grace could change this outcome. That's my take on the subject.
Thanks Again,
The Land Doctor
