10 Steps That Can Help Keep A Community Safe
- Encourage employees, staff tenants to be aware of security and ensure they understand what to do if a security threat does occur.
- Educate staff and employees, so that they can remain alert to their surroundings and identify any unusual activity.
- Keep important emergency phone numbers in an easily assessable place and if possible memorize them.
- Keep personal information of employee’s, staff and tenants secure.
- Ensure locks and gates work properly and that the property remains secure. Don’t leave objects like ladders laying around. These can be used to breach a wall or enter the building.
- If abandoned or suspicious vehicles are noticed, be sure to report it to the police or other security agencies.
- Keep an eye out for unattended packages or bags and do not watch or hold bags for strangers.
- Do not allow any unauthorized individual to drop off boxes, bags, cartons or any sealed containers around your premises.
- Make sure everyone knows where the building’s emergency exits are located and have an emergency evacuation plan in place.
- Run safety and security exercises regularly.
