Favorite local chefs in talks to open restaurants at $300 million Town Center-area development

A massive mixed-use project slated for development near the St. Johns Town Center is looking to attract a number of popular local restaurateurs, with chef Scotty Schwartz — a partner in the development — leading the charge.

Schwartz, the owner of 29 South and El Jefe, is curating the food hall at Atlanta developer Jeff Fuqua's 67-acre project near the southeast corner of I-295 and J. Turner Butler Boulevard. The food hall, called Bold City Food Hall, would accommodate around 20 restaurant concepts, and Schwartz said he's in conversation with several household name chefs from around the area.

“What we are targeting here is really the best of the best in Jacksonville,” Shwartz said at the International Council of Shopping Centers North Florida Idea Exchange on Thursday, during which Fuqua revealed more details about the project.

The $300 million project will comprise 350,000 square feet of retail, a brewery, two hotel sites, a 20,000-square-foot food hall, a 49,000-square-foot grocer, a 38,000-square foot cinema, 1 million square feet of office space, 7 parking decks, a mercantile hall and between 650 and 700 multifamily units.
