We live in a hurricane zone, and so those in Florida and the
rest of the southeastern U.S. understand the problems and tragedies that unfold
during a hurricane and its aftermath. If you would like to donate, you want
your funds to go to a charity that will actually help.
Forbes recommends this site as one that will point you in a
safe direction so assure that your contributions go to real people in need.
Groups include the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army,
the Houston Food Bank, the Food Bank of Corpus Christi, United Way of Greater
Houston.
Each of the charities listed on Charity Navigator has a star
rating, and there’s a link to let you know how much money goes directly to help
people versus administration.
