EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program Spells Opportunity for Real Estate

-- Kathy Bissell
Raise your hand if you haven't had calls from someone claiming to have a Chinese investor looking for a real estate. While some groups seem to be elusive, we have been working with real investor class buyers who are seeking properties near NYC.

Chinese purchasers are the most recent wave of immigrant purchasers to take advantage of the EB-5 Immigrant Investor Program.  While many foreign investors are seeking businesses with real estate in metropolitan locations,  there are also qualifying locations in rural areas and in geographies of high unemployment if businesses preserve jobs in those locations.

Compliance with the program allows a Visa to be issued to the investor.  Investment amounts are $1 million for most areas but drop to $500,000 for rural and high unemployment areas.

The program is outlined on U.S. Citizenship and Immigration web site.
