Turtle Nesting Season Underway

A note to all beach goers, the sea turtle nesting season is officially underway, so watch out for turtle nests. There are five species of officially protected sea turtles. Motorists and pedestrians should avoid entering the sand dunes and conversation zones, which are 15 feet seaward of the dune line.
Beachfront houses must reduce the impact of their interior and exterior lights, which have been known to disrupt the nesting turtles.
Last year St. Johns county had 704 confirmed nests. It's all part of what makes living along Florida's "First Coast" so enjoyable.
