Bass Pro Shops Heading to NE Florida/ Jacksonville

If you're an avid outdoors man/woman then travel time to one of the best hunting, fishing, and outdoor gear is likely to get shorter.  Bass Pro Shops has announced plans to open their first NE Florida store just south of the Jacksonville line in St Johns County around Race Track Rd and where the new 9B connector will be.  The store will add 250+ jobs and significant regional exposure.  Most customers travel over 50 miles to visit the store and spend 2- 2 1/2 hours in the store.  Very much like an IKEA.  The talks of bass Pro Shops in the area have existed for almost a decade.  Many thought they would land downtown in what was the Shipyards Project.  Then many speculated St Johns Town Center.  Neither of those panned out and now they seem set in the SE quadrant between Jacksonville and St Augustine.  As mentioned previously Bass Pro Shops is a regional draw with the next closet location in Orlando and another slated for Tallahassee.  I would venture a guess that the project will draw other significant National retailers to join them.  This is another positive sign for the retail market as a whole even more so for the Greater Jacksonville MSA.  More can be found on the site and announcement in the link below to Jax Daily Record
