Nordstrom hopefully more than just a department store

It's all over twitter, Facebook, and any other social media site you can think of as well as the online versions of The Florida Times Union and Jacksonville Business Journal.  Nordstrom is headed to Jacksonville.  The news is great and further punctuates the notion that we might actually be emerging from the recession.  Nordstrom announced that St Johns Town Center would be one of two locations they are opening new full line retail stores in 2014.  The announcement bodes well for more than just Simon Property Group and the St Johns Town Center.  As the retail climate continues to improve more and more retailers will look to expand their brand.  As they do such they look to see where the top retailers are and where there competitors are.  If Jacksonville continually pops up then they are much more likely to come join the party.  As this occurs it increases the cities standard of living and becomes more appealing to live in.  Other cities have seen the trickle down effect where large companies will not relocate to certain cities because it does not have the appeal and standard of living required by the executive teams family.  The more we have to offer as a city the more other completely unrelated jobs and opportunities will increase.  All making Jacksonville a better place to be.  For more on the Nordstrom announcement from Jacksonville.com Click Here
