Most of us shop online from time to time and put no thought into as why. Sometimes it is the ability to find an obscure product, other times it is price, and for some it is pure convenience because they don't have the time to shop brick and mortar. That said the brick and mortar stores have greater overhead operating cost than an online retailer. While the scale of balance tilts to favor the online stores many brick and mortar stores still thrive. Many brick and mortar stores have pushed for years to try and swing the scales somewhat closer to a neutral position. That push seems to be getting close to success. Three different bills are floating through Washington with support behind them for the online retailers to collect sales tax. There is already legislation in place and you are supposed to pay the sales tax annually with your Income Tax. I would venture a guess that few if any of us are paying that now. Enjoy the rest of the sales tax holidays in your area as they may be coming to a close. See article on Fox Business News
