Northeast Florida Economy

Northeast Florida Economy
Articles appearing in the November 18th edition of The Times-Union, depending on how one reads them, tend to be optimistic in this writer’s eyes. Cleve Warren, a well known
and respected businessman, was quoted “Just have faith and know that as the pendulum
swings, it will come back to the path that it left before. Find a way to hold out until the economy turns around. It will get better.” Warren said he believes the recovery is underway.
In another article, Zanny Minton Beddoes, economics editor of The Economist magazine, making her comments to the World Affairs Council of Jacksonville, indicated she believes the Obama administration should place more effort on reforming the financial sector before working on such other issues as global warming and healthcare. She said, “Where does that leave us? It’s with an uncomfortable level of uncertainty.” Beddoes concluded that uncertainty is having an adverse effect on the recovery process, causing businesses to be hesitant to expand.
